Lauren and George met their first year at Boston University. They lived on the same floor and had many of the same classes, as they were both studying biomedical engineering. By the time winter break arrived, the two were officially together. Fast forward nine years – past advanced degrees, first apartments, first jobs, a start-up and other adventures – and the two headed to Rome, where George proposed.

When Lauren first reached out to me about photographing their wedding at the Dane Estate, she told me how important photography was to her and her family. She also let slip that George was a little camera-shy. Knowing that at least one member of a couple is usually a little camera shy, I always encourage engagement sessions as an opportunity to get comfortable together and in front of my lens. We met up on a December afternoon for their engagement session near Boston’s waterfront, where the chilly weather encouraged lots of snuggling together. I loved seeing how these interacted – especially the moments when they forgot I was there and tipped their heads back in laughter.
